2 Lessons We Should Learn From May 21st | Evangelism.net

The media in the last days and weeks made much of a person who erroneously predicted the end of the world. Two things ought to stand out to all of us as believers.

One is the need to handle the scriptures carefully and accurately –one of EvanTell’s core values. The reason many were saying the world was going to end last Saturday is because they subjected the scriptures to their thoughts instead of subjecting their thoughts to the scriptures. Jesus plainly said in Mark 13:32-33, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.”

Secondly, as committed believers we ought to ask, “Why hasn’t the Lord returned?” We don’t have all the answers but we do have one. God so loves unbelievers that He wants as many to come to Him as possible. The longer we have the more unbelievers we can reach. Note what II Peter 3:3-4 tells us, “. ..scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming?” Five verses later we read, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

The work of the kingdom goes on! Let’s present the Gospel clearly to as many as we can. We do not know how long we have. Only He knows that!
