"But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load."
Gal 6:5,6
DREAMS! At one time in life we have them, as as we get on with life something happens that many if not all of our dreams diminish. Some will blame others for either not having achieved their dream or for causing their dream to sour. Others will blame circumstances of life, spouses, children, life in general, etc. for diminish zeal in seeking our dreams. Accusers spend their entire lives blaming others for why they haven’t achieved their dreams. Excuse makers, make excuses for why they are not living their dreams.
So here's the question - why aren't you seeking your dream? Instead of complaining that we haven’t achieved our dreams, perhaps it is time to take the responsibility for what was not or has not been done. Your personal choices have a far greater impact on your ability to achieve your dreams than any other factor. We have all met people who were given nothing in life, yet, they have more than exceeded their dreams and more. We have also met others who were given everything on a silver platter, yet never achieved anything they set out to do in life.
What's the point of this where it regards your Spirit, God and the Bible? It boils down to a simple biblical principle, that choosers do what it takes to live their dream. The ability to choose is the quintessential characteristic that is one of God’s greatest gifts to humanity. Choosers take the responsibility for their choices and the direction of their lives. They don’t blame others or make excuses. The Bible says in Galatians 6:5, “We are each responsible for our own conduct.” While we cannot control our circumstances in many cases, we can control how we react and respond to those circumstances.
Proverbs 22:12,13 gives some important advice to this regard, "The LORD watches over everyone who shows good sense, but he frustrates the plans of deceitful liars. Don't be so lazy that you say, "If I go to work, a lion will eat me!"
Today, God has given you the choice to do something about your life. He has given you a new day, full of new opportunity. Another chance to reach for heaven, another change to make amends, another chance to decide to do something about the dreams God has given you.
Are you more tempted to make excuses or blame others for the unrealized dreams in your life? If so, Why? What one step can you take today to move closer to a long-lasting dream in your life, and to achieve the ultimate goal of eternity with God? The choice is yours. Choose wisely!
