Don't DE-value what God says is PRECIOUS!

Ever wondered how much you're worth? Not net worth - your self-worth. Valuables do not define your value as a person. You can be rich or poor, but that has nothing to do with your value as a person.

What is your value?  Jesus said it this way, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.(Jn.15:13)"  This is just what He did too. Nobody has ever paid a greater ransom price than God paid for you! You're acceptable, and you're valuable.

Peter uses the imagery of a building to illustrate our worth. God is building this stone building that represents the Church, the family of God, and you're one of the stones. "As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious” (1 Pt.2:4). Jesus is the living stone. He is perfect, but some people still rejected him. Sometimes we may think that if we could just be perfect, we could be accepted. No.  Jesus was perfect, but even he wasn't accepted by everyone, yet, He was chosen by God and seated at God's right hand. What we need to understand is that God's building (His Assembly or Congregation) is not physical temples or church buildings. God lives in us and it is you that help to make His spiritual house. Peter says that you're a living stone. When you give your life to Christ, you become a building block in God's house. Peter states that in this respect, we are precious stones built into a Spiritual house!

How should understanding a Christian’s value in God’s eyes change the way you treat yourself and other believers?  Because, if you are valuable - so are they! We are in God's house to achieve the same purpose, helping to seek and save the lost and to worship our Father. The question here is what evidence exists in your life that you have grasped the freedom that comes from being ransomed by Jesus Christ?  Do you understand how valuable you are to God? There is only ONE you and you are unique. That makes you special to God's purposes. A precious stone that God can use in His house to support others or to expand the growth of His house.

How are you letting God use you today?

Jim
